    Mmmmmm I do not agree!! Lovers need to be friends for the relationship to last. Friendship is about being there, understanding and enjoying your time and having a conversation, listening to each others problems. How can they be lovers if they are not friends in the first place? What are they in it for? its basically a friendship with an added bonus.

    Just to clarify what am trying to say:

    I agree that in order to be lovers we have to be friends, showing care, love and support. No disagreement on this part.

    The thing is, I believe that friends can "upgrade" to be lovers.. However, its hard to maintain a friendship with an ex-lover due to all the history and emotions involved. If it didnt work as lovers. It ends there!

    I somewhat agree to that. Lovers need to understand eachother, true. They need to care, true. They need to protect eachother too. In a sense, thats lovers being friends. And you're saying if it doesn't work out then being friends is over? It might be, but not necessarily. But that could be more true than not.

    Friends can be lovers, but they shouldn't be more than lovers. Increased emotion will remove friendship and will only create a love relationship. That isn't good, because it could easily end things like stated above. It hard to find someone to actually go through all of what was said and yet be able to maintain a very powerful and stable friendship.

    I disagree to that too! It all depends on how the relationship was ended. If it was an amicable separation, then friendship is normal. I think many people have had that. Maybe at the beggining it a bit sour, but once you move on, you will have nothing lingering to prevent you from being friends. Actually the friendship might even be stronger because you understand each other better.

    That's my point... If friends got to become lovers, its very hard to go back to just being friends again. Mission Impossible!

    No one needs to be bitter. Ex-lovers can be good to each others, respect eachother and all but never as good friends who can hang out like nothing happened. If a girl, ex-lover, becomes friends with you, then take it from me SHE IS PRETENDING. She might be all smiles on the outsides, but in the inside its killing her. Girls are emotional creatures. She is only acting like a friend just to be around you coz she still has love feelings for you.. You wanna bet? ;)
